HISTORIC GRANT--The City of Sundown Library is honored to announce that it is one of five organizations within Texas and among 47 total organizations in 21 states who were chosen by the National Trust Preservation Fund for a seed grant of $5,000. This funding will be for a structural engineer and architect to develop plans for the transformation of a former church into the new city library space. In December 2022, the library was also honored to receive a very generous grant from the CH Foundation in Lubbock. This donation funded the property rehabilitation project to begin with a safe environment and blank slate to redesign. “We are extremely grateful for these philanthropic entities investing in our new oilfield oasis, and we have had much local support from the school and city council as well,” said Library Director A’ndrea McAdams. “Sundown’s new city library will have an area for everyone, from birth to senior—a hub for our community to work, play, and learn.” There is a donation jar at the current library, located at 207 E. Richardson. The library’s usual hours are Mon-Thurs, 3-6pm and daytime on Tues & Thurs from 9am-2:30pm. Follow the library and events on Instagram @sundownlibrary. (Submitted Photo)
