Thursday afternoon, The Texas VOICES Coalition and community volunteers filled 500 bags in 40 minutes!
The group of volunteers included 45 community members including Guadalupanas, Levelland cheerleaders, Wal-Mart employees, Levelland Marigolds members, Levelland Girls Little Dribblers members, Covenant Health Levelland caregivers, VOICES Coalition members and Hockley County 4-H members.
The VOICES Coalition was awarded a $3875 grant by Community Foundation of West Texas. Other monetary donations were received by Renegade and individuals from throughout the community.
The drawstring bags were donated by Levelland Chevrolet. Gr8 Smiles donated toothbrushes and toothpaste packets to go with each school supply bag.
Covenant Health Levelland donated pencils, lip balm, sunscreen and other miscellaneous items. Hockley County School Employees Credit Union contributed red, blue, and black pens. Hockley County 4-H donated green highlighters.
On Saturday, August 5, the free school supplies were distributed by many of the same volunteers to our county students via a drive-thru event at Capitol Elementary.
The VOICES coalition was founded in 2015 as nonprofit organization. The VOICES Coalition was formed to educate our youth about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
