Ropes Eagles drop home game against Sudan

The Ropes Eagles faced off against the Sudan Hornets in an home game where they dropped the game by three points to the undefeated Hornets.

The Eagles had a good game offensively racking up a total of 410 yards on the ground and through the air. Defensively, they were not able to stop Sudan as they had a total of 490 yards of total offense.

The Eagles main rusher Hayden Torres was able to rack up 50 yards total on 13 attempts as well as Jacob Wyatt being able to pick up 38 yards on nine carries.

The most damage the team caused was through the air as the team was able to pass for a total of 322 passing yards. Ropes quarterback Kade Franklin threw for a total of 309 yards as Hayden Torres threw for 13 yards. The team was productive through the air as the leading receiver Kolter Dockery had four receptions for 128 yards and one touchdown. His longest reception of the night was a 75 yard bomb from Kade Franklin that he was able to haul in.

Other than Kolter Dockery having a monster game with only four receptions, receivers Branson Beck had 90 yards in the air off of seven receptions, Colton Mortensen had 36 yards off of four receptions, Kaden Riker had 35 yards off of two receptions, and Reese Williams having 34 yards off of three receptions. The only receiver to have a touchdown in the game were Kolter Dockery with one and Branson Beck with another.

Although the offense was lighting Sudan’s defense on fire it was hard for the defense to keep up with the Hornets offense as they had 305 yards passing and 185 yards on the ground as well. The Hornets had a very good balance of both attacks and layed it into the Eagles as they only turned the ball one time the entire game.

Penalties were a big problem on both sides as Ropes had 15 flags that accumulated for a total of 160 yard given up and Sudan had 11 flags thrown throughout the game with them losing 137 yards.

Although it was a close game the Eagles will have to bounce back as they will be playing Hale Center who is coming off of a loss to New Home 64-6, with a record of 1-2. It will be the Ropes Eagles Homecoming next week and the game will start at 7 p.m.
