Eagles soar past Indian territory, 32-8

The Morton Indians faced off against the Seagraves Eagles where they fell in a 32-8 home loss, in UIL Class 2A High School Football action from a landslide of a second half.

At the start of the game the Indians couldn’t get anything done on offense as it seemed whatever they had dialed up Seagraves had an answer for them. On the Eagles first drive of the game they were able to punch it in the end zone from a run up the middle and not making their PAT, making the game 6-0 early on in the game.

In the second quarter Seagraves didn’t let up as they were able to punch in another touchdown on the ground up the middle of the defense. Although the scored twice they only led 120 as they wouldn’t able to get the two-point conversion on that drive.

Although the Eagles would make it a two score game Morton’s offense would come to life in the middle of the second quarter as Seagraves would try to call a timeout to slow the Indians momentum but it didn’t help as the Indians were able to get the touchdown as well as get their two-point conversion making it a one score game, with a score of 12-8.

Seagraves would get the ball back and broke off a huge run getting them inside the 10 yard line on Indian territory, but the defense prevailed as Morton was able to stop the Eagles offense all four times on the goal line and taking possession over to burn out the first half.

Unfortunately for Morton it was the only bright spot they had last night as they didn’t get on the board the rest of the game and defense would have to slug it out as they were trying their hardest being on the field for what felt like the rest of the game.

Although the Indians lost, they are still in the playoffs as they are the number four seed finishing with a overall record of 5-5. While the Seagraves Eagles find the number three seed finishing with a record of 5-5 as well.

Playoff games, locations and times will be announced as they are decided.
