Kimberly Oyler & Ray Rodriguez exchange wedding vows Nov. 18

Kimberly Lane Oyler formerly of Sundown, and Ray Rodriquez II of Temple, exchanged wedding vows on November 18, 2023 at Tenroc Ranch, Blue Heron, in Salado, Texas.

The bride is the daughter of Jay and Kristie Oyler of Sundown. She is the granddaughter of Patsy and the late Dave G. Oyler of Cooper, the late Connie and Robbie Wilson of Fort Worth, and the late Lois Wilson of Fort Worth.

The groom is the son of Ray and Norma Rodriquez of Temple. He is the grandson of Antonia and the late Fidencio Rodriguez of Plainview and the late Herlinda Ybarra of Uvalde.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore a Maggie Sottero A-line cap sleeve gown. It had a V-neckline with an organza lined lace bodice. It was ivory over ivory illusion adorned with lace motifs over sequined sparkle tulle. It was embellished with a sparkling crystal satin sash. The V-back had petite wrapped buttons, and lace along the tiffany train with an elaborate lace hemline. The fingertip ivory tulle veil was edged with pearls and crystals. She wore a crystal and silver necklace, earrings and bracelet. The bridal bouquet had white roses and blue delphiniums wrapped with a white satin ribbon.

Following tradition, something old was an antique pearl and crystal broach that belonged to her maternal grandmother that adorned her bridal bouquet and a crystal cross necklace from her paternal grandmother. Something new was her wedding gown. She borrowed her veil from her sister Rachel and something blue was her royal blue high heel sandals that completed her outfit.

The maid of honor was Rachel Oyler Wolff of Rockwall, formerly of Sundown, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Robin Lewis of Temple, Becky Cole of Belton, church friends; friends and coworkers Kristi Rhodes of Harker Heights and Crystal Watson of Killeen. They wore floor length, royal blue chiffon dresses from Azazie. They carried bouquets of white roses.

The best man was Dustin Dow of Temple. The groomsmen were Jarrett Witten and Matt Calhoun of Temple, Adrian Rodriguez of Belton, and Michael Lollman of San Antonio; all childhood friends. The men wore classic black Vera Wang one button tuxedos with a peak lapel in gros grain satin with black vests, white button up shirts with smoke and silver cuff links. The groom wore a black bow tie and white pocket square, the groomsmen and ushers a horizon blue tie and pocket square. The dads wore a black bow tie with a horizon blue pocket square The flower girls were Bethany Wolff, niece of the bride, from Rockwall, and Kennedy Gonzales cousin of the groom, of San Antonio. They wore an ivory empire bodice gown, with a satin belt adorned with fabric and pearl flowers, with a tulle skirt and lace hemline. They dropped white rose petals from their baskets.

Ring security was Benjamin Wolff, nephew of the bride, from Rockwall. He wore a black tuxedo with a white button up shirt and black bow tie. He secured the briefcase carrying the rings to his wrist with handcuffs; an earpiece and dark glasses completed his attire.

The ushers were Dave Oyler of Friendswood, formerly of Sundown, brother of the bride, Pat Gonzales, cousin of the groom, of San Antonio and Travis Lock, childhood friend, from Temple.

The double ring ceremony was held outside and was set against a background of a limestone rock wall with an 11foot wooden cross, a babbling brook, native live oaks, blooming roses and autumn trees. Wildlife, rolling hills with majestic oaks and stone pathways surround the area. The ceremony was officiated by Matt Gonzales, cousin of the groom, of San Antonio.

Erin Oyler, sister-in-law of the bride, read the poem “I’ll be there for You” by Louise Cuddon, and Kayla Rodriquez, sister of the groom, read 1 John 4:7-12 from the Bible.

The parents were seated to “Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by Bach. The attendants walked in to “Trumpet Voluntary” and the bride entered on her father’s arm to “Canon in D” by Pachelbel. Glynis Clark, friend of the bride, sang “Gratitude” and “How Does a Moment Last Forever.” The couple, attendants and family exited the ceremony to “You’re the One that I Want” from Grease.

Following the wedding, the guests were welcomed to the covered terrace surrounded by majestic oaks, illuminated trees and stone pillars. Friends and family signed the guest book on a table holding pictures of the couple and it was attended to by Erin Oyler and Kayla Rodriquez. A slide show of the bride and groom growing up played throughout the reception.

The guests were seated at round tables covered in white tothe- floor cloths. Tables had silver compotes of white playa blanca roses, Tibet roses, white spray roses, salal greenery and Italian Ruscus or a trio of cylinder vases with pillar candles and Italian Ruscus. The tables were highlighted with tea light candles, royal blue napkins, silver kisses and blue buttercream mints. A taco bar of pulled pork, chicken and beef, as well as rice and beans, chips, queso, and salsa were served.

The bride and groom were welcomed with cheers as they entered the reception to “Happy Together” by the Turtles and danced their first dance to “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts. The bride and her father danced to “Just Fishin” by Trace Adkins, and the groom and his mother danced to “Like Jesus Does” by Eric Chruch.

The bride and groom’s cake table was covered in white linen with a royal blue overlay. It held a round 3-tiered stacked bride’s cake of chocolate with strawberry filling, Vanilla with vanilla buttercream, and chocolate with chocolate ganache filling covered with white chocolate buttercream. Each layer was adorned with white rose clusters and on top was a sparkling “R” It sat on a large silver plateau. The groom’s cake was vanilla cake with fresh pineapple filling shaped as a whiskey barrel. It had a custom whiskey glass etched with the couples last name and wedding date. The cake was also adorned with a Taco and Margarita, and a booklet “How to Survive an Awkward First Date.”

The couple danced their last dance to “Oh Tonight” by Josh Abbott Band. They left the reception through a procession of well-wishers waving lighted fiber optic wands. They departed in a black Yukon limo for their honeymoon on the island of Antigua in the Caribbean. After the honeymoon the couple will reside in Temple, TX.

The bride is a 2010 graduate of Sundown High School, a 2014 graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station with a bachelors in education in interdisciplinary studies, 4-8th grade math and science, a 2017 graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a masters in Curriculum Development. She is employed in Harker Heights, KISD; as a 7th grade Science teacher and she also coaches 8th grade girls basketball.

The groom is a 2008 graduate of Temple High School, 2012 graduate of Sam Houston State University in criminal justice, with an MBA from Lamar University in 2022. He is employed by Belton Police Department as a Patrol Sergeant.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rodriguez on the eve of the wedding, at Johnny’s Steak and BBQ in Salado, TX.

On Sept 24, a bridal shower was hosted by Tillie and Renee McVay in College Station. A couple’s shower was held in the home of the groom’s parents and given by Becky Cole and Robin Lewis on October 21st. The bride was honored with a lingerie shower and retreat, hosted by the bridesmaids and friends in Fredericksburg on November 4th.
