Loboettes dominate, earn 15th straight win

The Levelland Loboettes faced off against the Odessa Lady Bronchos, where the team won 56-26, on the road.

In the first quarter it was slow for both teams as Levelland would outscore Odessa, but not by much as by the end of the first quarter the score was 9-8.

The second quarter, Levelland would find their footing as they would then outscore Odessa 14-to-5 to extend their lead going into the break.

Going into the second half of the game the Loboettes would not be able to slow down as their defense would keep Odessa in check as they would outscore them in the second half of the game 33-to-13.

Levelland won in dominant fashion as they took the game away from Odessa and progress to 19-1 on the season with a 15 game winning streak.

Destynii Jones led the team in scoring as she finished with 16 points on the night. Olivia Velardez had 12, Emery Smith had 10, Carly Tienda had six, Presley Smith had four, Leilani Sanchez had two and Kaylee Penner had one.

Levelland won the rebounding category as they had 39 rebounds compared to Odessa’s 23 on the night.

The Loboettes were able to force 14 turnovers while giving up the ball only eight times in the game.

The team shot the ball well as they went for 67% from the charity stripe and 35% from the field.

The Loboettes will be competing in the Littlefield tournament these next few days as their first game will be up against the Olton Lady Mustangs to kick off the tournament.
