Morton Indians route Seagraves Eagles

The Morton Indians took on the Seagraves Eagles in a nondistrict game at home where they won their matchup 59-43 last Friday.

The first quarter started off close as Morton was able to outscore the Seagraves Eagles by three points taking a small lead 16-13, going into the second quarter.

The second quarter is where the Eagles were able to put together a great run and was able to take the lead going into the halftime break due to their high offense outscoring Morton 15-to-10 and taking a two point lead with the score at 28-26.

Alex Lopez for the Indians led the team in scoring going into the halftime break with 11 points, four of them coming from the charity stripe.

Going into the third quarter of play Morton came out firing as they were able to outscore the Eagles 19-to-11 and take back their lead that they had in the first quarter. The score at the end of the third was Morton leading 4539.

Although it was a close game throughout the night it would be the Indians that would take the win after they were able to hold off Seagraves by holding them to only seven points scored in the fourth while they were able to put up 14 points of their own on the night.

Lopez was able to keep his hot hand going all night as he was able to finish with 26 points on the night in the Indians victory over Seagraves.

Zeph Silvas finished with 14, three Morton Indians finished with four points in Cade Lyon, Brayden Villarreal and Anibal Casteneda. A.J. Mendoza had three points and four more Indians had two points on the night in Britton Davis, E.J. Rivas, Lane Lyon and Jorge Regalado.

This was the teams last nondistrict game of the season which they started this Tuesday against Amhearst as the away team.

The team advnces to 10-7 overall and stays at 0-1 in district play with their loss coming from the Whitharral Panthers in mid December.
