The Morton Maidens hosted the Meadow Lady Broncos this past Friday for the teams fifth game of district play where they fell 46-43.
The first quarter of the game started off bad for the Maidens as they were trailing pretty early in the game being outscored 17-to-7 having to claw their way back into the game.
The second quarter of the game was closer as the Maidens were able to outscore the Lady Broncos by one point and cut the lead down to nine going into the halftime break.
Clarissa Holland for the Maidens would be the leading scorer at the half with 12 points in the game, 10 of them coming from inside the paint.
Going into the third quarter of play the Maidens would outscore the Lady Broncos once again by one point to try and stay in the game as they trailed 42-34 going into the final quarter of play.
For the fourth quarter of the game Morton was able to put up another nine points in the quarter while holding Meadow to only four.
Although the Maidens outscored the Lady Broncos in three quarters, it was their fall in the first quarter that would prevent them from coming back and winning the game.
The Maidens fall to 10-12 on the season while going 2-3 in district sitting in fourth in district behind Whitharral, Whiteface and Meadow.
The Maidens will play against the Cotton Center Lady Elks this Thursday as the away team at 7:15 p.m. for their sixth district game of the year.
