The Anton Lady Bulldogs took on the Amherst Lady Bulldogs where they won 45-22, on the road.
The first quarter of play was good for Anton as they outscored Amherst 9-to-4 to take the narrow lead going into the second quarter.
The second quarter of play was one of the best for Anton as they were able to get 12 points while only holding Amherst to eight points right before the halftime break.
The score at the half was Anton leading Amherst 21-12.
Alyssa Mancias for the Anton Lady Bulldogs led the team in scoring at the halftime break as she had seven points, six of them down low while the extra came off of a free throw.
To start the second half of the game, Anton came out on fire as they had their best performance in the third quarter both offensively and defensively as a team. They were able to rack up an additional 16 points in the third while still holding Amherst to only one point. The score heading into the final quarter of play was Anton leading 37-13.
For the final quarter of play the Anton Lady Bulldogs were outscored by Amherst 9-to-8.
Mancias led the team in scoring for Anton a she had 21 points on the night and could not be stopped down low or from range.
Miliana Castillo had another eight points for the team, Aspyn Cooper had six, Liberty Peek had four and three Lady Bulldogs had two points in Isabela Juarez, Alexis Hoover and Sarah Carlisle.
The team progressed to 5-10 on the season while going 2-3 in district play.
The Anton Lady Bulldogs played against the Meadow Lady Broncos this past Friday at home and will face off against the Morton Maidens next Tuesday at home at 6:15 p.m.’
