The Smyer Bobcats hosted the Ralls Jackrabbits January 12, where the team lost 48-41.
For the first quarter of play it was a close game between the teams as Ralls was able to barely outscore the Smyer Bobcats 13to-10 at the end of the first.
The second quarter was where the Bobcats fell behind as they allowed the Jackrabbits to score six points in the second while only getting two of their own to fall.
The score at the half was Smyer trailing 19-12.
For the Bobcats it would be Micah Zapata that would lead the team in scoring at the half with six points, all of them coming from inside the paint.
Going into the third quarter of play Smyer had their best scoring quarter of the game as they were able to outscore Ralls 14-to-12 to cut the Jackrabbits lead to only five.
Although they were able to keep the game close throughout, in the end it wasnt enough as they were only able to get 15 points to go for them in the final quarter of play while allowing Ralls to get another 17 to go in their close loss.
Leading Smyer in scoring for the night was Rylan Smith as he was able to get all of his points in the fourth quarter of play and end the game with 13 points on the night.
Two Bobcats ended with seven points on the night in Micah Zapata and Austin Martinez. Brayden Wade had five, Mason Medart had four, Ryann Gutierrez had three and Micah Stevens finished with two.
The team was outrebounded throughout the night as Ralls was able to get 42 to Smyers 33.
Smyer was able to force six turnovers throughout the night while turning the ball over seven more times against the Jackrabbits.
The team shot the ball for 27% while going for 19% from long range. They also shot 43% from the charity stripe in the teams loss.
Smyer 37 New Deal 69
The Smyer Bobcats took on the New Deal Lions at home where they fell 69-37.
The first quarter of the game started off bad for the Bobcats as they were outscored 18-to-8 trailing big heading into the second quarter.
For the second quarter of play it would be all New Deal once more as they poured on another 22 throughout the quarter while Smyer was only able to get 11 to fall for them going into the halftime break.
The score at the break was Smyer trailing the Lions 40-19.
Leading the team in scoring at the half was Bobcat Smith as he was able to get nine to fall for him, all of them coming from beyond the arch.
Going into the third quarter of play though the Bobcats kept the scoring closer as they were barely outscored 14-to-9 and falling behind further in the game.
For the final quarter of play Smyer would be able to put up nine points in the end while the New Deal Lions had another 15 fall for them before the final buzzer.
It would be Zapata for Smyer that would lead the team in scoring at the end of the game against the New Deal Lions as he was able to get 10 points throughout the night, being the only Bobcat to get in the double digits for the game.
Smith had nine, Wade had six, Garcia had five, Stevens had four, Medart had two and Martinez finished the game with one.
The Smyer Bobcats next game of the season will be up against the Lockney Longhorns this next Tuesday as the away team at 7:30 p.m.
