Roughettes fall to Lady Eagles 47-37

The Ropes Lady Eagles hosted the Sundown Roughettes for their district matchup where the Lady Eagles took the win 4737.

For the first quarter of play, the Roughettes were able to take the early lead first from their great play in hitting their free throws and attacking the basket.

In the second quarter of play Ropes was able to respond as they were able to outscore the Roughettes by one point before the halftime break.

The score at the half was Sundown leading Ropes 23-19.

Leading the Roughettes in scoring at the half was Aria Hogan as she racked up 11 points, 10 of them coming from inside the paint.

As for the Lady Eagles the leading scorer at the half was Madi Reyna as she was able to get seven points to go.

At the start of the third quarter it was a defensive battle as Ropes was only able to get eight points in the third while holding Sundown to six points. The score going into the final quarter of play was Sundown having a narrow 29-27 lead.

In the final quarter of play Ropes found their feet as they were able to grab the lead and take off with the game by outscoring the Roughettes 20-to-8 to take the big lead at the end of the game.

Sundown led the entire game until the final quarter of play where they had a hard time stopping the team from driving and had to foul the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles would get seven points off of free throws alone in the final quarter of play.

Leading the Lady Eagles in scoring would be Campbell Latta as she would be the only Lady Eagle to finish in double digits with 10 points on the night.

Aubrey Bandy had nine, Reyna had eight, Delyla Stark had seven, both Lacy Bloskas and Bailey Turner had six points a piece and Kandis Rodriguez would finish the game with one point.

For the Roughettes they would have two players finish with double digit points in both Talia Acevedo who had 13 points and Hogan who would end the game with 11 points.

Two Roughettes would finish the game with four points a piece in Yaya Lopez and Camry Jourden, Kyndal Taggart had three and Hannah Holdman would finish the night with two.

The Sundown Roughettes fall to 14-13 on the year while going 4-4 in district play sitting in third place behind undefeated New Home and Plains.

The Roughettes next game in district play is against the New Home Lady Leopards as the visiting team this Friday at 6:15 p.m.

For the Ropes Lady Eagles they progress to 18-7 in overall play while progressing to 4-4 in district play as well sitting in fifth place in the district.
