The Sundown Roughettes took on the Post Lady Lopes this past Tuesday as the visiting team for basketball district play where the team won 69-12.
The first quarter of the game started off great for the Roughettes as they came into the game on fire as they were having their way getting to the basket putting up 16 points in the first while holding Post to only two.
The second quarter might have been the best for Sundown’s defense as they only let the Lady Lopes score one point while getting another 16 from their offense.
Going into the halftime break Sundown was leading 32-3.
Leading the team in scoring at the halftime break was Allie McCormick who had 10 points, eight of them coming from inside the paint.
Going into the third quarter of play Sundown didnt slow down as they got another 18 points to fall for them, 10 of those points in the paint, while once again holding Post to four points in the quarter.
Going into the final quarter of play Sundown was leading the game 50-7.
During the fourth quarter of play Post would finally reach double digits as a team in scoring while Sundown finished the game with 69 points.
Aria Hogan finished the night leading the team in scoring with 20 throughout the night against the Lady Lopes.
McCormick finished the game with a double double as she had 16 points along with 11 steals on the night. She also racked up nine assists and eight rebounds to help pull her team to the victory.
Camry Jourden and Hannah Holdman both finished with eight points in the game, while two more Roughettes finished the game with six points in Emily Rodgers and Kyndal Taggart, and finally Jamie Sims and Talia Acevedo both finished with two points in the team win.
The Sundown Roughettes progressed to 15-13 on the season while going 5-4 in district sitting in fifth place.
The Roughettes next game in district is against the Seagraves Lady Eagles this Friday at home at 6:15 p.m.
