The Levelland Lobos took on the Snyder Tigers this past Friday at home where they won in district play 53-47.
For the first quarter of play Levelland found themselves trailing early on by nine points with the score sitting at 18-9 as the Lobos were struggling to get shots to fall for them early on.
For the second quarter of play Levelland would do better as they were able to hold the Tigers to only seven points before the half while they were able to get nine of their own to fall, outscoring Snyder by two points before the half.
The score at the halftime break was Levelland trailing 2518.
Leading the team in scoring at the half for the Lobos was Jayden Castillo as he had eight points at the half with four of them coming from inside the paint as he was making his presence felt from his inside driving capability.
Going into the third quarter of play the Lobos would find a rhythm in their scoring as they had 15 points to fall for them while holding the Tigers to only eight points going into the fourth quarter of play. The score at the end of the third had Levelland tying the game up at 33 points.
For the final quarter of play it would be free throws that would help the team secure the win as they were able to get seven points off of free throws at the end.
Leading the team in scoring for Levelland was Castillo as he finished with 27 points on the night, 14 points coming from inside the paint.
Eryk Jones finished the game with 11 points, Travion Holland had eight points, Sean Landrum had four and Ozzie Solano finishe with three points on the night.
Levelland was outdone on the boards as they were able to pull down 26 throughout the night while the Tigers had 31.
The Lobos shot the ball for 33% from the field while going for 20% from deep ball range. From the charity stripe Levelland shot the ball well as they went for 81% throughout the night.
Levelland was able to force eight turnovers throughout the night while giving the ball up four times in the game.
Levelland progressed to 1216 on the season while going up to 3-2 in district play sitting in third place.
The Lobos next game in district play is against the Estacado Matadors this Friday as the visiting team at 8 p.m.
