The Whitharral Lady Panthers hosted the Anton Lady Bulldogs for district basketball play where the team won 68-23.
The first quarter of the game started off well for the Lady Panthers as they were able to get 23 points to go for them while holding Anton to six points taking the big 17 point lead going into the next quarter.
For the second quarter of play Whitharral slowed down offensively as they would only be able to get 14 point before the half while Anton had a better scoring quarter getting nine to fall for them.
The score at the halftime break was Whitharral leading Anton 37-15.
Leading the Lady Panthers in scoring was Paige Smith as she was able to get 18 points at the half.
For the Anton Lady Bulldogs it was be Miliana Castillo that would lead the team in points at the half with six, all of them coming from inside the paint.
Going into the third quarter of play Anton was be able to keep up with the Lady Panthers as they allow them to get 16 points in the third while only getting two points to fall for them in the fourth.
For the final quarter of play Whitharral outscored Anton 15-6 to take the good district win.
Smith led the team in scoring for the Lady Panthers as she finished the game with 25 points throughout the night.
Avery McCain had 16 points, Madison Chavez had 11, Rylee Kristinek had 10, Tyler Parkinson had four and both Trinity Coronado and Elizabeth Reyna had two points a piece in the teams win.
For the Lady Bulldogs they had both Castillo and Liberty Peek led the team in scoring as both of them had six points in the teams loss.
Alexis Hoover had four points, Isabela Juarez had three and Alyssa Mancias and Aspyn Cooper had two points a piece.
The Whitharral Lady Panthers progress to 25-4 on the season while going up to 9-1 in district play sitting in second place.
The Anton Lady Bulldogs fall to 5-15 on the season while slipping to 2-7 in district play.
The Whitharral Lady Panthers played their last game of district against the undefeated Whiteface Lady Lopes as the visiting team.
