Maidens end district with loss

The Morton Maidens took on the Meadow Lady Broncos this past Tuesday for the team’s last district game of the season as the visiting team where they lost 55-35.

The first quarter of the game had the Maidens struggling to stop the long range balls to hitting as they let up 15 points in the first, nine of them coming from long range while they were only able to get six points to fall for them.

The second quarter of play was closer as the teams was able to go on a 13 point run to get them closer to the Lady Broncos. Although they were able to get 13 they still allowed Meadow to get 14 to hold their lead going into the halftime break.

The score at the half had Morton trailing 29-18.

Leading the Maidens in scoring at the half was Aerie Rodriguez as she had six points at the break.

Going into the third quarter of play, the Maidens were outscored 13-9 and trail by 15 points going into the fourth quarter.

For the final quarter of play the Maidens were not be able to catch back up to Meadow as they were able to hold the lead and never look back.

Rodriguez was the only one who finished in double digits on the night with 10 points.

Malorie Villerial had nine, Jayden Keeling had five, Khloe Bordayo and Clarissa Holland had four, Alexiah Garza had two and Alison Yanez finished the game with one point in the teams loss.

Morton will finish the season with an overall record of 13-14 on the year while going 5-6 in district sitting in fourth place, enough for a playoff spot against the Klondike Lady Cougars with the time and place TBD at the time of this writing.
