The Ropes Eagles took on the Plains Cowboys this past Tuesday as the visiting team where they lost 75-60 in district basketball play.
The first quarter started off with both team’s keeping up with each other as both had 16 points at the end of the first.
For the second quarter of the game Ropes found themselves trailing as they weren’t able to keep up with the offensive power that the Cowboys had down low. Ropes was outscored 19-6 at the end of the half.
The score at the halftime break was Ropes trailing 35-22.
Leading the Eagles in scoring at the half was Landon Nale as he had seven points at the half, six of them coming from under the basket.
Going into the third quarter of play, Ropes was able to put on a clinic from scoring as they had their best offensive quarter of the game with 22 points scored. They held the Plains offense to 18 points cutting the lead to 53-44 going into the fourth quarter.
For the final quarter of play Ropes would not be able to get back were the game as Plains went on another run to end the game and take the big district win over the Ropes Eagles.
Leading the Eagles in scoring on the night was Nale as he finished the game in double digits with 11 points.
Cutter Stumbo and Brady Bryan both finished the game with nine points a piece, Darren Kizer and Kade Franklin both had another eight, Reese Williams had six, Bode Franklin and Brennan Bearden had three a piece and Branson Simental finished the game with one point in the teams loss.
The Eagles progress to 21-7 on the season while falling to 6-3 in district play sitting at third place in the district.
Ropes next game of district play is against the Post Antelopes this Tuesday at home at 7:30 p.m.
