The Smyer Lady Cats took on the Sudan Lady Hornets this past Friday during district basketball play where they lost 78-33 at home.
The first quarter of the game started off with the Lady Cats trailing 20-7 as they could not stop the Lady Hornets from attacking the paint giving up 14 of Sudan’s points from underneath.
The second quarter of play had Sudan getting another 18 points to fall for them while the Lady Cats were only able to get seven more points before the halftime break.
The score at the end of the half was Sudan leading Smyer 3814.
Leading the Lady Cats in scoring at the half was Maegan Smith and Kaia Brandon who both had three points.
Going into the third quarter of play Smyer would be outscored 28-7 going into the fourth as Sudan lit up the Lady Cats from all around the court getting nine points from long range, seven points from free throws and the rest of their 12 points from attacking the paint.
For the final quarter of play Sudan just played keep away from Smyer as both teams had 12 points in the fourth with Sudan taking the district win over Smyer.
Leading the team in scoring on the night was Brandon as she finished with 11 points, 10 of them from close range.
Smith finished with seven points, Kira Posadas had six, Vannah Jourden had three and three Lady Cats finished with two points in Dyamond Baker, Rylee Riedel and Jada Hernandez.
The Lady Cats fall to 12-15 on the season while slipping to 310 in district play.
The Smyer Lady Cats played their last game of the season against the Ralls Lady Jackrabbits this Tuesday as the visiting team.
