Loboettes handle Lady Mats on the road

The Levelland Loboettes took on the Estacado Lady Mats this past Friday as the visiting team for district basketball play where the Loboettes won 44-36.

For the first quarter of the game Levelland would take a three point lead with the score sitting at 14-11 from their great shooting as they had four three pointers fall for them in the first.

For the second quarter of the game Levelland took 13 more points to fall for them while holding the Lady Mats to seven points before the half.

The score at the halftime break was the Loboettes leading Estacado 27-18 holding a nine point lead.

Leading the Loboettes in scoring at the half was Olivia Velardez as she had 10 points, six of them coming from long range.

Going into the third quarter of play Levelland would go on another run outsourcing Estacado by three point and extending their lead 39-27 leading by 12 points heading into the fourth quarter of play.

Although Levelland would leda the entire game they would let off the gas in the end to let Estacado scare them as the Loboetts would only get four points to fall for them while they let up another nine points to the Lady Mats.

Leading the Loboettes in scoring on the night was Velardez as she had 14 points throughout the night.

Mia Morin had another eight points, Carly Tienda and Leilani Sanchez both had seven points a piece, Emery Smith and Presley Smith had three points a piece and Sydnii Joyce finished the game with two in the teams win.

Levelland progresses to 31-2 on season play while remaining undefeated in district play, sitting at a perfect 9-0 record.

The Loboettes played their last game of the season this Tuesday against the San Angelo Lake View Maidens at home.
