The Whitharral Lady Panthers took on the Grady Lady Cats this past Monday in Brownfield for the teams bidistrict round of basketball playoffs where the Lady Panthers won 41-33.
The first quarter of the game started off well for Whitharral as they were able to get eight points to fall for them while only giving up three at the end of the first, taking a five point lead heading into the half.
For the second quarter of play it was more of the same story as Whitharral would outscore Grady once more 11-9 extending their lead to seven points heading into the halftime break.
The score was Whitharral leading 19-12.
Leading the Lady Panthers in scoring was Paige Smith who had nine points, seven of them coming from the second quarter of play.
Going into the third quarter of play Whitharral would keep the game close as they scored another 10 points coming out of the break while holding Grady to nine extending their lead by one more point going into the fourth quarter.
For the final quarter of play Whitharral and Grady would stay the same as both teams earned themselves 12 points apiece with the Lady Panthers taking the win and moving on to the area round of playoffs.
Smith would lead the team in scoring for the night with 16 points on the night, seven of her points coming from the back half of play.
Avery McCain had another nine for her team, Rylee Kristinek and Madison Chavez both had six points apiece and both Elizabeth Reyna and Tyler Parkinson finished with two points in the teams win.
The Whitharral Lady Panthers moved onto the area round of playoffs where they played Borden County this Friday at Lubbock Cooper.
