Roughettes handle McCamey

The Sundown Roughettes took on the McCamey Lady Badgers this past Monday in Big Spring, where the Roughettes won 75-32.

The first quarter of the game started off with Sundown taking a commanding 28-6 lead over the Lady Badgers. The Roughette offense was able to force their way inside the paint getting all of their points from under the basket.

For the second quarter of play it was more of the same story as Sundown had another 18 points fall for them while holding McCamey to eight points extending their lead to 32 points going into the halftime break.

The score at the half was Sundown leading 46-14.

Leading the Roughettes in scoring at the half was Aria Hogan as she had 18 first half points, all of them from inside the paint.

Going into the third quarter of play Sundown would continue to attack as they would outscore McCamey 21-9 in the third putting it out of reach of the Lady Badgers.

For the final quarter of the game Sundown would finally be outscored 9-8, but it wouldn’t be enough as they would take the big bi-district win to move on to the area round of playoffs.

Allie McCormick led the team in scoring on the night with 26 points, she would not be stopped from getting to the rim as all of her points came from under the basket.

Hogan had another 22 points for her team, Camry Jourden had 13, Hannah Holdman had six, Emily Rodgers and Kyndal Taggart both had three a piece and Talia Acevedo finished with two in the teams win.
