The Sundown Roughettes took on the Miles Bulldogs this past Friday in Big Spring for the teams area round of playoffs where the team won 64-43.
The first quarter of the game started off with Sundown outscoring Miles 12-8 taking a four point lead going into the second quarter of play. The Roughettes had 10 of their points come from inside the arch.
For the second quarter of play the Roughettes found another gear as they put together 20 points before the halftime break while only allowing eight points extending their lead by another 12 points.
The score at the half was Sundown leading 32-16.
Leading the Roughettes in scoring at the half was Aria Hogan as she had nine points at the half, six of them coming from under the basket.
Going into the third quarter of play Sundown came out flat footed as they would be outscored 14-10 with Miles cutting the Roughettes lead to 12 going into the fourth quarter of play.
For the final quarter, Sundown made up for their lackluster third quarter by getting 22 points at the end while holding the Lady Bulldogs to 13 points and taking the big area playoff win.
Allie McCormick led the team in scoring on the night with 16 points, 10 of her points from inside the paint.
Hogan finished with 15 points on the night, Hannah Holdman had another 13, Camry Jourden had nine, Emily Rodgers had five and Kyndal Taggart finished with four in the teams win.
Sundown shot the ball for 48% from the field while going 33% from long range. The team also shot the ball for 63% from the charity stripe hitting 12-of-19 on the night.
The Roughettes would lose the rebounding battle 54-32 as they were not able to box out the Lady Bulldogs.
Sundown won the turnover battle though as they would be able to force 26 on the night while only giving it up another 16 times throughout the night.
Sundown progresses to 20-14 on the year.
The Roughettes played against the Christoval Lady Cougars this past Tuesday in Big Spring for their Regional Quarterfinal matchup.
