Roughettes dominate Olton Fillies at home in district play

The Sundown Roughettes took on the Olton Fillies this past Saturday for their second district matchup in UIL Softball action where Sundown won in dominant fashion 17-0 after two and half innings.

Sundown started off their matchup hot as they had 12 runs go for them at the bottom of the first innings.

Brynly Gregory drew a walk and scored one run, Breigh Gregory doubled and scored one run, Destiny Garza doubled scoring one run, Camry Jourden singled and scored one run, Areceli Ibarra doubled and scored one run, Ericka Posadas tripled and scored one run, Emry Jourden doubled and scored one run, Camry Jourden hit once more for a double and scored another run and Ibarra singled and scored another run all in the first inning to take the 12-0 lead after the first.

The Roughettes scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Posadas scored after tagging up, Garza tripled, scoring three runs and Jourden singled, scoring one run.

For the Roughettes it was Garza that opened the game, she gave up zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out nine and walking none.

Sundown piled up 14 hits in the game. Jourden led the Roughettes in hits with three in their contest. Gregory, Jourden, Posadas and Ibarra each collected multiple hits for the Roughettes.

The Roughettes were surehanded in the field as they didn’t commit a single error.

The Sundown Roughettes progressed to 15-3-1 on the season while starting district play off with a perfect 2-0 record.

The Roughettes played against the Ralls Lady Jackrabbits this past Monday and Tuesday for district play in UIL High School Softball.
