Second-year head coach Hayden Sowers has been tabbed the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year! Sowers has led the Texans to a 28-2 record to date, including a 14-2 mark in the WJCAC, and the Western Junior College Athletic Conference title. The Texans have been ranked in the top two in the country the entire season, and went 10 weeks as the No. 1 team in the NJCAA national poll. South Plains, which earned the No. 1 seed from the west to the Region V Tournament.
The Texans won the NJCAA Region V Tournament with wins over Grayson College 85-69, Odessa 63-53 and Clarendon 10098.
They have earned a bid to the national tournemane in Hutchinson, Kansas on March 24-30.
