Loboettes take first district win

The Levelland Loboettes started district play in UIL Softball Action this past Tuesday against the Sweetwater Lady Mustangs where the Loboettes won 6-1 as the visiting team.

For the start of the game Sweetwater was able to get on the board first after the scored on a single that was able to drive a runner in to make the score 1-0 Sweetwater’s lead.

The Loboettes were able to answer back in the top of the third when Angelica Gonzalez homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Jazlyn Diaz doubled, scoring one run.

Levelland was able to add to their lead with two runs in the top of the fifth inning thanks to two home runs from Aubriana Rivas and Castellano to make the score 5-1.

Levelland would get their final run of the game off of another home run hit by Delaney Delgado that went to center field to put the score at 6-1 and give the Loboettes their first district win of the season.

Rivas took the win for the Levelland Loboettes as she gave up five hits and one run over seven innings while walking two and striking out 10.

Castellano, Gonzalez, Delgado, Saydi Mendez and Rivas each collected two hits for the Loboettes.

Gonzalez led the Loboettes with two runs batted in. They went 2-for-4 on the day. The Loboettes didn’t commit a single error in the field. Madison Seat had the most chances in the field with 12.

The Loboettes progressed to 14-9 on the season while going 1-0 in district play as they faced off against Estacado this past Friday as the home team.
