Levelland to host National Little Dribbler’s Tournament

The City of Levelland will be hosting the National Little Dribbler’s Tournament this April.

Selected to host the National Boys and Girls Little Dribbler’s Tournament, the event will bring at least 96 teams to Levelland with each of those teams carrying up to 15 kids and their coaches along with their parents and fans and spectators in support.

“We are very excited anytime Levelland is chosen to host an event,” said Levelland Chamber of Commerce President Mary Siders. “We become a destination, therefore people have a reason to come to and visit our wonderful city.”

Siders explained that the city can expect roughly 2,500 to 3,000 people coming for the tournament in support for the kids.

In addition to hosting the tournament, the City of Levelland will be hosting the ABC Rodeo at the same time.

Siders added that hosting events such as the tournament and rodeo are opportunities that a city can see tremendous benefits from an economic standpoint.

“This creates a big uproar of people coming in from all around the area in support for many things,” said Siders. “Lubbock is helping put these teams and fans in hotels as Levelland doesn’t have enough space to hold everyone with the limited hotel spaces Levelland can provide.”

The event is scheduled for four days, spanning April 5-8. Levelland is considered for hosting every 3-5 years. Siders explained that being chosen is a high honor for the City of Levelland.

“To bring the tournament to Levelland, we needed local support and passion,” said Siders. “Everyone randing from the community, parents and kids are making it a great thing to want to be a part of.”

Levelland previously hosted to the event back in 2019 to celebrate the 50th year of Little Dribbler’s being its own event.

“Most people wouldn’t even know of Levelland rather than even come here if it weren’t for Little Dribbler’s,” said Siders. “We are thankful and honored to be chosen this year and can’t wait for it to start.”
