The Levelland Loboettes hosted the Estacado Lady Mats this past Friday for UIL District Softball play where the Loboettes won 14-4.
Levelland was on the board first after Saydi Mendez scored on the throw giving the Loboettes the early 1-0 lead.
The Loboettes weren’t done as they were able to get another run in the bottom of the second after Madison Seat scored on a Jazlyn Diaz groundout to make the score 2-0.
At the top of the third Estacado was able to take the lead after they had four runs go their way to flip the game and give the Lady Mats the 4-2 lead. Estacado had their first run of the game go off of a error from the shortstop, then their second run off of a single, afterwards the last two runs came off of a single to give them another two.
Levelland was able to tie the game at four a piece after a single from Castellano and a double by Diaz.
The Loboettes were able to get the lead in the bottom of the fourth after Angelica Gonzalez tripled sending Mendez home and tagging up to get Levelland the two run lead.
Levelland scored another seven runs on seven hits at the bottom of the fifth. Delaney Delgado singled, scoring one run, Delylah Peredez scored after tagging up, Castellano doubled, scoring two runs, Seat singled, scoring two runs and Delgado lined out, scoring one run making the score 13-4.
Levelland was able to force the run rule in the bottom of the sixth after Seat popped out to the left field to send Gonzalez home and give the Loboettes the 14-4 district win over the Lady Mats.
Danica Rivera stepped into the mound first as she surrendered seven hits and four runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Aubriana Rivas threw three innings of shutout ball in relief as she surrendered five hits, striking out one and walking one.
The Loboettes collected 17 hits in their contest. Castellano drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Loboettes with four runs batted in. They went 2-for-4 on the day. Mendez and Rivas each collected three hits for the Loboettes. Gonzalez, Diaz and Seat each collected multiple hits for Levelland. Gonzalez stole three bases. Levelland had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating five walks in the game. The Loboettes ran wild in their game as they had four bases stolen throughout the game.
The Loboettes progress to 11-11 on the season while going up to 2-0 in district play. The Loboettes faced off against the Lakeview Maidens this past Tuesday for district play as the visiting team.
