The Ropes Eagles took on the Tahoka Bulldogs this past Tuesday at home for UIL District Baseball play where the Eagles lost 3-2.
To start the game off Tahoka was the first team on the board after they scored on an error taking the lead 1-0 early in top of the third.
Ropes answered back with a Braxxin Partington single, which helped tie the game up sending in Elijah Flores at the bottom of the third.
The Bulldogs were able to retake the lead at the top of the fifth inning after their batter hit a single scoring one run giving them the lead at 2-1.
Garrett Morgan singled on a full count, which helped the Eagles tie the game at two in the bottom of the sixth.
Although Ropes was able to keep it close throughout the game they would eventually fall after a single by the batter would send a runner home at the bottom of th seventh and give Tahoka the big district win over Ropes.
Mason Marmolejo started the game for the Eagles as he gave up one hit and two runs over five innings while striking out 10 batters and walking two. Bode Franklin came in for relief for the Eagles as he went in for two innings, giving up one hit and one run, striking out four while walking three in their contest.
Partington, Bode Franklin, and Morgan each collected one hit for the Ropes Eagles.
Partington and Morgan each drove in one run for the Eagles as well.
The Eagles fall to 13-4 on the season as they take their first loss of district play and sit at 4-1 in district. The Eagles played against the Seagraves Eagles this past Friday at home and again this Monday as the visiting team at 5 p.m.
