The Levelland Loboettes took on the San Angelo Lake View Maidens this past Tuesday as the visiting team in UIL Softball Action where the Loboettes won 22-5.
Levelland was on the board first at the top of the first innings after Adrianna Castellano doubled, scoring two runs, Delaney Delgado doubled, scoring four runs and Saydi Mendez tripled, scoring two runs. The Loboettes were able to grab the lead early and lead the Maidens 8-0.
The Loboettes were able to add to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Madison Seat scored after tagging up, Delylah Paredez singled and Mendez doubled, each scoring one run. Levelland extended their lead to 11-0 at the top of the second.
At the top of the third inning the Loboettes added one more to their total after Paredez was walked sending in Castellano for the run and put the score at 12-0 for Levelland.
The Maidens were finally able to respond in the bottom of the third after the batter was able to hit a single sending in two runners after an error by right field, making the score 12-2 with Levelland leading.
The Loboettes weren’t done with their scoring as they scored nine runs on five hits in the top of the fourth inning. Angelica Gonzalez tripled, scoring one run, Castellano drew a walk, scoring one run, Diaz drew a walk, scoring one run, Aubriana Rivas scored after tagging up, Danica Rivera drew a walk, scoring one run, Mendez doubled, scoring one run, Gonzalez doubled, scoring two runs and Castellano doubled, scoring one run. The Loboettes extended their lead to 21-2 at the top of the fourth inning.
The Loboettes got their final run of the game at the top of the fifth inning from a double hit by Seat to center field to send in Rivas to put their scoring up to 22-2.
Lakeview was able to get three more runs in their final inning at the bottom of the fifth to make the score 22-5 as Levelland was able to take the big district win.
Castellano earned the win for the Loboettes as she surrendered one hit and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking three in their contest. Rivas appeared in relief for the Loboettes as she gave up three hits and three runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking two throughout the game.
Levelland collected 19 hits in the game. Delgado led the Loboettes with four runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. She went 2-for-4 on the day. Gonzalez, Diaz and Castellano each collected multiple hits for the Loboettes. Seat led the Loboettes with three walks when the team as a whole earned 12 walks for the game. Mendez and Diaz each stole multiple bases for the Loboettes while the team had eight stolen bases in the game.
The Loboettes progress to 12-11 on the season while remaining undefeated in district play with a record of 3-0. The Loboettes faced off against the Big Spring Lady Steers this past Friday as the visiting team at 5 p.m.
