Ropes Eagles sweep Seagraves in series

The Ropes Eagles took on the Seagraves Eagles this past Friday and Monday where Ropes won both games in district play.

Ropes 12, Seagraves 2

For the team’s first game on Friday Ropes was able to take down Seagraves easily as they dismantled them 12-2.

Seagraves set the tone in the game as they were the first team on the board in the top of the first due to two singles that scored one run and put the game 2-0 with Seagraves leading.

Ropes was able to take the lead in the the bottom of the first thanks to singles by Kade Franklin and Brady Bryan to make the score 3-2 with Ropes leading.

The Ropes Eagles were able to extend their lead with two runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI errors by Bryan and Maddux Sierra.

In the bottom of the fourth inning Ropes had two more runs go for them off of a double and flyout sent home two runner to make the score 7-2.

Ropes was finally able to put the game away after they scored five runs on one hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kanon Buckner drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored two runs and Franklin singled, scoring two runs.

Elijah Flores earned the win for the Eagles as he gave up two hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking three.

Franklin drove the middle of the lineup, leading Ropes with three runs batted in. They went 3for-4 on the day. Buckner collected two hits for the Ropes Eagles in three at bats. Mason Marmolejo and Buckner each stole multiple bases for Ropes. Ropes as a team was able to steal eight bases throughout the game. Ropes turned one double play in the game.

Ropes 29, Seagraves 8

For the team’s second game of the series Ropes dominated in the third inning taking the big district win in style.

Ropes was the first team on the board in the top of the first inning after Marmolejo hit a solo inside the park home run, Braxxin Partington doubled, scoring two runs, Franklin doubled, scoring one run and Franklin singled, scoring three runs; making the score of the game 7-0 Ropes lead.

Seagraves had one run go for them in the bottom of the first after the batter hit a single on a ground ball to right field to send a runner home making the score 71, with Ropes still leading.

Ropes was able to add onto their lead in the top of the second inning after Buckner doubled, Ropes scored on a passed ball, Hogg singled, and Ropes scored on a another passed ball, each scoring one run making the score 11-1.

In the top of the third inning it was total domination from the Ropes Eagles as they scored 16 runs. Franklin singled, scoring two runs, Colton Mortensen drew a walk, scoring one run, Hogg drew a walk, scoring one run, Bode Franklin grounded out, scoring one run, Marmolejo was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Hogg scored after tagging up, Buckner drew a walk, scoring one run, Franklin drew another walk, scoring one run, Mortensen drew a walk, scoring one run, Hogg singled, scoring two runs, Franklin singled, scoring two runs, Marmolejo singled, scoring one run and an error scored one run.

Seagraves was able to give a scare to Ropes as they had five runs in the bottom of the third inning on one hit.

Garrett Morgan earned the win for the Ropes Eagles as he gave up three hits and six runs over three innings, striking out six and walking five.

Maddux Sierra appeared in relief for the Ropes Eagles as he surrendered zero hits and two runs in one inning, striking out three and walking two.

Ropes amassed 16 hits in the game. Franklin seized on their opportunities, leading Ropes with six runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. They went 3-for-4 on the day. Bode Franklin and Kade Franklin each collected three hits for the Ropes Eagles. Mortensen, Marmolejo, Hogg and Buckner each collected multiple hits for Ropes. Ropes had patience at the plate, collecting 15 walks throughout the game, Partington, Bryan, Mortensen, Franklin, Hogg and Flores led the team with two walks each. Mortensen, Marmolejo, Franklin and Hogg each stole multiple bases for Ropes while the team had stole 15 bases throughout the game.

Ropes progresses to 15-4 on the season while going up to 5-1 in district play sitting in second place of district behind New Home.

Ropes will face off against the Post Antelopes for their upcoming series this Saturday as the visiting team at 11 a.m. and against next Tuesday at home at 4 p.m.
