Smyer falls to New Home

The Smyer Bobcats took on the New Home Leopards this past Saturday for UIL District Baseball play where the Bobcats fell 20-1 as the visiting team.

Smyer struggled to stop the Leopard offense all game as in the bottom of the first inning, New Home jumped out to an early 9-0 lead over the Bobcats.

In the bottom of the second they extended their lead to 12-0 off of a triple from their batter.

Smyer was able to get their only point of the game in the top of the third inning after an error by the shortstop was able to send in Austin Martinez for the score making the game 12-1.

From that point on it was all New Home as the Bobcats dropped their first game against New Home as the visiting team.

Kaden Price stepped on the mound for the Bobcats as he gave up eight hits and 17 runs (five earned) over two and two-third innings, striking out four and walking two.

The Bobcats fall to 5-4 on the season as they rematched against the New Home Leopards this past Tuesday at home and get ready to go up against the O’Donnell Eagles this upcoming Friday as the visiting team at 5 p.m..

Colton Burriss and Austin Martinez each collected one hit for Smyer.
