The Ropes Eagles hosted the Smyer Bobcats this past Friday for UIL District Baseball play where the Eagles won 7-1.
The Eagles were the first team on the board in the bottom of the first inning after two errors by the Bobcats, each scoring one run and Elijah Flores hit a single, scoring three runs, making the score 5-0 early in the game.
Smyer was able to get their first run of the game in the top of the third inning after Aiden Martinez grounded into a double play, scoring a run making the score 5-1.
Ropes answered right back after Flores grounded out, scoring one run to extend the Eagles lead to 6-1.
The Eagles had their last run in the bottom of the fourth inning after Kade Franklin singled on a ground ball to left field, scoring their last run to make the score 71.
Bode Franklin earned the Eagles the win after he gave up two hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking three in the game.
Cutter Stumbo appeared in relief for the Eagles as he gave up two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none.
Kaden Price took the loss for Smyer as he gave up seven hits and seven runs (one earned) over six innnings, striking out six and walking two throughout the game.
For Ropes, Flores led the way with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Kade Franklin led the Eagles with three hits in four at bats. Mason Marmolejo collected two hits for the Eagles in four at bats. Ropes turned one double play in the game.
For the Bobcats Aiden Martinez went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Smyer in hits. Martinez stole five bases while the team as a whole had seven throughout. Smyer turned one double play in the game.
The Ropes Eagles ended off their season with a record of 19-6 on the season while going 9-3 in district play. The Eagles get ready to face off against the Olton Mustangs this Thursday at Littlefield High School at 7 p.m. for one game only winner moves on.
The Smyer Bobcats ended off their regular season with a record of 12-10-1 with a district record of 5-7 finishing in fifth place just missing playoffs.
