The Levelland Lobos season comes to an end in Snyder against the Brownwood Lions this past Thursday where the Lobos lost in two games.
Brownwood 6, Levelland 5
For the first game of the day Levelland fell 6-5 after giving up four runs in the first inning.
Brownwood was the first team on the board in the bottom of the first inning after one batter hit a single, scoring one run, another batter hit a double, scoring two and the last batter hit a single, scoring one, to give the Lions the early 4-0 lead.
Levelland answered back in the top of the second inning after R.J. Mireles sacrifice bunted to get Brayden Moore in for the score and cut the Lion lead to just three.
In the top of the fifth inning, Levelland’s Noah Tienda was able to score on a wild pitch that would get the score to 4-2, Levelland still trailing.
Brownwood got their final runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning after a batter hit a double, scoring one run and another batter hit into a double play, scoring one run and making the score 6-2.
Levelland was able to make a run in the top of the seventh inning, after Tienda doubled on a fly ball, scoring one run, Danny Ochoa grounded out, scoring one run and Rusty Johnson singled on a line drive to left field, scoring one run, bringing their scoring to an end at the very end and dropping the first game 6-5.
Tienda took the loss for the Lobos as he appeared in relief, he gave up two hits and one run (one earned) over one inning, striking out none and walking one.
Boston Winfield started for the Lobos as he gave up 10 hits and five runs (five earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking three in the game.
The Lobos piled up nine hits in the game. Tienda and Tyler Pemberton each collected two hits for the Lobos. Tienda, Johnson and Mireles each drove in one run for the Lobos. Tienda stole two bases throughout the game. The Lobos turned in one double play for the first game of the series.
Brownwood 8, Levelland 3
For the last game of the series the Lobos fell 8-3 right after game one to end their season in the Bi-District round of playoffs.
The Lions was the first team on the board after they had three runs go for them in the first inning, two walks, two wild pitches, a single and a triple, making the score 3-0 early.
There wasn’t scoring until the fourth inning when Johnson led the team off with a double, advancing to third on an error by the catcher and score on another error by the centerfielder, making the score 3-1.
Brownwood got three more runs in the fifth inning after five Lobo errors, making the score 6-1.
The Lobos responded in the fifth inning, after they had two runs after a two out single by Tienda scored two runs making the score 6-3.
For the final runs of the game Brownwood got another run in the sixth and seventh inning to end Levelland’s season and move onto the next round.
Brayden Moore took the loss for the Lobos as he gave up four five hits, six runs (three earned) over four and two-third innings, striking out nine and walking four in the game.
Pemberton appeared in relief for the Lobos as he gave up one hits and two runs in two and onethird innings, striking out none and walking none.
The Lobos end off their season with a record of 14-16-1 finishing fourth in district play after winning four of their last five district game during district play.
