Sundown summer reading program recaps summer fun

As summer has come to an end, the City of Sundown Library recapped a few of their favorite activities or moments that took place during their Summer Reading Program.

The library hosed multiple programs for area families. There were a total of 14 children events, two teen events and two family events with a total of 171 individuals being in attendance.

Community members colored pictures or wrote letters for military personnel in honor of Independence Day. The event was in cooperation with ColorASmile and Operation Gratitude.

Writers’ Week held a thumbprint comic workshop led by a Lubbock Christian University Writing Club Member, JoAnna McAdams, who talked about characters, storyline and comics.

“Kanvas Kids,” a painting event had a record number of participants who learned color and art techniques. The event was led by Sundown ISD Teacher Jonna Evans and was funded by the Prentice Farrar & Alline Ford Brown Foundation, budding artists of all ages were able to paint a flamingo.
