The Ropes Eagles went on the road to take on the Hale Center Owls this past Friday for their season opener where they won, 33-14.
For the first quarter, Ropes was the only team on the board after they hit a 72 yard touchdown pass then got the two point conversion to make the score 8-0 early.
The Eagles added onto their lead in the second quarter after they had another huge pass from 60 yards out then got their two point conversion to make the score 16-0. Ropes wasn’t done though as they had another 17 yard pass go for a touchdown, then made their PAT to make the score 23-0 at halftime.
The third quarter was all Hale Center as they punched in a one yard run then missed their PAT to make the score 23-6, and had a 16 yard pass touchdown with a good two point conversion to make the score 23-14.
Although they were finally able to get on the board, the rest of the game was all Eagles as they kicked a field goal from 32 yards out and made it and had another 16 yard rush for a touchdown
with a good PAT to make the final score 33-14.
The Eagles did great on offense as they had 374 yards of total offense with 232 of them coming from the air and 142 of them on the ground.
Kade Franklin led the team in passing with 162 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Zayden Pittman also had one pass completed for 70 yards and one touchdown on the night.
The leading receiver on the team was Reese Williams as he had 114 yards and two touchdowns off of four catches. Mason Marmolejo had 17 yards, Trak Crow had 12 yards, Kaden Riker had nine yards and Colton Mortensen had eight yards with the rest of the team having nine.
On the ground it was Marmolejo who led his team with 78 rushing yards. Pittman had 39 yards with one touchdown, Ryland Kieth had 24 yards and Jacob Wyatt had five yards.
The Eagle defense did well in their season opener as well as they only let up 158 yards of total offense with 65 through the air and 93 yards on the ground.
Crow had four tackles with one assist and one tackle for loss.
Reid McCaleb had four tackles with four assists and one tackle for loss.
Riker had four tackles with six assists, one sack and two tackles for loss.
Williams had three tackles with two assists and one sack.
Branson Simental had three tackles and Kolter Dockery had two tackles.
Victor Saenz had two tackles with seven assists and two tackles for loss.
Kanon Buckner had two tackles with 10 assists, one sack and one tackle for loss.
Brayden Hogg had one tackle for loss and one assist.
Mike Sanchez had one tackle with eight assists and one tackle for loss.
Keith had five assists, Jace Adams had four assists, Elijah Flores had five assists, Gabe Sanchez had one assist and Mike Williams had one assist.
Jack Lehnen had three assists, one sack and one tackle for loss.
Simental was the only Eagle to grab an interception for the team.
The Ropes Eagles faced off against the New Home Leopards this past Friday at home.
