Whiteface remains undefeated in regular season

Friday the 13 th was definitely good for the no. 4 Whiteface Antelopes as they hammered the visiting Boys’ Ranch Roughriders 60-0 in a 45-point rule shortened UIL Class 1A six-man high school football game last Friday.

The 45-point rule states that when either team is ahead by 45 points or more at half-time or after, the game is declared completed. The first and second quarter must be played before the rule can be invoked.

The Roughriders, in their first year of six-man football, started with the ball on their own 39-yard line and were soon facing a third down and 15.

Then Elijah Bolton found Cord’e Jackson open for the first of only two first downs by Boys’ Ranch all night.

The Roughriders got nowhere on first down, but got an additional bonus in the form of an offsides call against Whiteface on second down, giving Boys’ Ranch a second down and 10 yards to go on the Antelope 15yard line.

Bolton went to Zeke Holman for six yards, then on third down and four yards to go, Bolton found himself in trouble and dumped off to William Harris, who was promptly flattened by Antelope Isaak Soliz for a fourth down with four yards to go on the Whiteface nine-yard line.

Boys’ Ranch went to the air again, but this time, Bolton was intercepted by Jeremiah Rendon, who took the ball all the way to the endzone.

Unfortunately, a holding call brought the ball back to the Whiteface seven-yard line, but the Antelopes had the ball with 6:35 left in the first quarter.

Two plays later, Rendon crossed the goal line with no flags. A two-point kick from Castenada put the Antelopes up 8-0 with 5:55 left in the first quarter.

After that, it was all Whiteface. The Roughriders got only one more first down, late in the first quarter, while the Antelopes scored on every possession, plus a score on a recovered fumble by Auscar Gandara.

The Roughriders were held to only 63 yards total offense while Whiteface had 315 with 290 coming on the ground.

Rendon had 235 yards on seven carries with five touchdowns. Jose Flores had two carries for 32 yards. Castenada had two rushes for 16 yards and a touchdown. Cash Crutcher had a single touchdown run for seven yards.

Soliz went 1-for-2 passing for 25 yards. His receiver was Cesar Chavez.

Rendon and Chavez led with five tackles each. Rendon also had an interception. Soliz had three tackles and three assists.

Crutcher and Luke Gresham had two tackles each. Crutcher had one assist and Gresham had two.

Axel Rivera had a tackle and an assist. Auscar Gandara had an assist and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

The Antelopes will host no. 13 Klondike on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
