The Whitharral Panthers hosted the Lazbuddie Longhorns this past Friday at home where the Panthers mercy-ruled the Longhorns 62-0 at the half.
In the first quarter along Whitharral was able to score 46 points.
The first score was a 16-yard run from Brent Robinson with a made PAT from Jack Griffin to make the score 8-0.
The second score from the Panthers came from Griffin off of a pick-six from 30-yards out with another made PAT to make the score 16-0.
Two more scores from Whitharral continued pouring it on as Daniel Rodriguez punched it in from two-yards out to make the score 30-0 after another made PAT.
Griffin scored another touchdown from a punt return from 45-yards out to make the score 38-0 on another good PAT.
The final score of the first quarter was from Brent Robinson off of a fumble that he returned from 15-yards out to make the score 46-0.
For the start of the second quarter the first quarter was from Dawson Rodgers off of a 15-yard rush to extend their lead to 54-0.
The final score of the game was a Greg Johnson 25-yard rush to make the final score 62-0 to open up district play for the Panthers.
The Panthers offense was rolling as they had 155 rushing yards with zero passing yards.
The leading rusher for the Panthers was Dawson Rodgers with six carries for 50 yards and one touchdown. Robinson had two carries for 35 yards and one touchdown, Daniel Rodriguez had two carries for 31 yards and one touchdown, Johnson had one carry for 25 yards and one touchdown and Copper Popelka had two carries for 14 yards.
The Panther defense held strong as they only allowed 39 rushing yards off of 23 attempts and zero passing yards off four passing attempts.
Griffin led the team with one interception on the night along with two and a half tackles.
Leading the team in tackles was Brolin Kennedy with seven and a half. Daniel Rodriguez had five and a half, Johnson and Rodgers both had three each, Damian Rodriguez had two and a half and Omar Carlos and Robinson both had one tackle a piece on the night.
The Whitharral Panthers progressed to 5-2 on the season as they took on the Amherst Bulldogs on the road at 7:30 p.m. for their second game of district play.
