The Whiteface Antelopes had little trouble in a 68-0 home win over the Wellman-Union Wildcats to start UIL District 31A High School Football Action last Friday.
The game was called at halftime due to the 45-point rule which states that a game is called whenever one team is ahead by 45 points or more at or after halftime.
Whiteface also honored local first responders before the game. The Antelope defense held Wellman-Union to minus 80 yards rushing and only 15 passing on a 3-for-10 performance with one interception from four Wildcat passers. Whiteface did not allow Wellman-Union to make a single first down.
The Antelopes led 46-0 at halftime.
Whiteface stuck to the running game, attempting only one pass from Isaak Soliz to Axel Rivera that went incomplete.
The Antelopes scored on each possession and had one defensive touchdown when Ethan Kauffman recovered a Wildcat fumble and rambled 39 yards for the score.
Jeremiah Rendon had six carries for 108 yards and three touchdowns. Cash Crutcher had three carries for 38 yards, two touchdowns and a fumble.
Axel Rivera had a 35-yard touchdown run. Kauffman had a 19-yard carry, Damian had two touchdown carries for a total of 12 yards.
