The Ropes Eagles hosted the Smyer Bobcats this past Friday during the team’s district matchup where the Eagles won, 63-6.
The first score of the game came from a six-yard touchdown pass from Kade Franklin to Kaden Riker to make the score 8-0 after a made two-point conversion.
The next score of the game was Ropes once again after they punched the ball in for the touchdown to make the score 140 after their failed two-point conversion.
To start the second quarter it was Ropes once more, this time a rushing touchdown from Riker from two-yards out to make the score 21-0 after the made PAT from Reese Williams.
The Eagles got another touchdown in the second after Ryland Kieth scored from eightyards out to make the score 28-0 after another good kick.
Smyer couldn’t get anything going as they turned the ball over once more to the Eagle offense. Ropes took full advantage with another rushing touchdown, this time from 11-yards out from Zayden Pittman to make the score 35-0.
Ropes had three more touchdowns before the halftime break, all three being rushing touchdowns to make the score 55-0 at the halftime break.
The Eagles got their last touchdown of the night off of another rushing touchdown to make the score 63-0.
Smyer got on the board late after they had a seven-yard rushing touchdown from Wyatt Bartels to make the score 62-6 after the Bobcats failed their twopoint conversion. Ropes offense was on fire after they had 296 rushing yards and 12 passing yards on the night.
Kade Franklin led the Eagles in passing yards as he completed three passes for 11 yards and one touchdown.
Leading Ropes in rushing was Mason Marmolejo with six carries for 79 yards and one touchdown. Pittman had nine carries for 75 yards and three touchdowns, Kieth had six carries for 45 yards and one touchdown, Jacob Wyatt had two carries for 37 yards and one touchdown, Trak Crow had two carries for 22 yards and one fumble, Kade Franklin had two carries for 21 yards and one touchdown, Armando Melton had two catches for seven yards, Riker had two carries for five yards and one touchdown and Radley Partington had one carry for five yards.
Riker led the Eagles in receiving yards with one catch for six yards and one touchdown. Kolter Dockery had one catch for three yards and Crow had one catch for one yard.
For the Smyer Bobcats the team had 88 passing yards and three rushing yards in their contest.
Skyler Pond led the Bobcats in passing yards with 92 yards and four interceptions.
Mattox led Smyer in rushing with six carries for 11 yards and one touchdown, Benevedes had 10 carries for six yards and Ryland Smith had two carries for three yards.
Leading the Bobcats in receiving yards was Smith with six catches for 54 yards. Gutierrez had four catches for 27 yards and Cooper had three catches for 11 yards.
Ropes leading tackler was Victor Saenz with 18 total tackles. Kanon Buckner had 10, Brayden Hogg had nine, Jace Fowler had nine, Mike Williams had eight, Brady Bryan had eight, Jackson Lehnen had eight, Wyatt had seven, Tyler Harbuck had six, Dockery had five, Reese Williams had four, Kieth had four, Pittman had four, Reid McCaleb had four, Mike Sanchez had four, Branson Simental had three, Colton Mortensen had three, Gabe Sanchez had two, Maddux Sierra had two and Elijah Flores had two tackles.
Simental had three interceptions and Pittman had one interception. Both Bryan and McCaleb both had one fumble recovery in the team’s contest.
For the Bobcats their leading tacklers were Matheu Corder and Alex Mattox with nine total tackles. Dylan McPhail had eight, Wes Tevis had five, Caleb Pierce had three, Pond had three, Rodriguez had three, Smith had three, Tango Pastusek had two, Micah Stevens had two and Ryann Gutierrez had one.
The Bobcats forced one turnover on the night with one fumble, Ryann Gutierrez had the fumble recovery for Smyer while Pastusek forced the fumble.
The Ropes Eagles still remain undefeated on the season with a perfect 7-0 record while going up to 2-0 in district. The Eagles will face off against the Sundown Roughnecks this Friday as the away team at 7 p.m.
The Smyer Bobcats fall to 0-7 on the season while going down to 0-2 in district play.
