Levelland Loboettes start season 3-0

The Levelland Loboettes started off their season 2-0 after going up against Littlefield on the road and #1 Shallowater in 3A at home where they won both games.

Levelland 48, Littlefield 34

In the team’s season opener against the Littlefield Lady Cats on the road, Levelland was able to pull off the win 48-34.

At the start of the game Levelland was able to force their way into the paint after they scored 13 points, with six of them coming from down low. The Loboettes took a 13-9 lead over the Lady Cats.

Going into the second quarter of the game it was more of the same as Levelland outscored Littlefield 10-5 to extend their lead and go into the halftime break 2314.

Leading the Loboettes in scoring at the half was Presley Smith with nine points, six of them coming from in the paint.

Going into the third quarter of the game, Levelland didn’t let off the pedal as they scored another 12 points while holding Littlefield to six making the score 35-20 going into the final quarter of play.

The final quarter Levelland put the game away as they were outscored 14-12, but it was too late as the Loboettes won 48-34.

The Loboettes were led in scoring by Presley Smith with 14 points on the night. Leilani Sanchez had another nine, Emery Smith had seven, both Kaylee Penner and Destynii Jones had five, Mia Morin had three and both Sydnii Joyce and Emily Perez had two points.

Levelland 58, Shallowater

For the team’s second game of the season, they took on the State Champions from last year in 3A Region 1&2 where they won 58-44 at home.

From the start of the game Levelland was able to take control fast with 14 points put up in the first while holding Shallowater to seven to take a lead going into the second quater.

The Loboettes kept it rolling as they outscored the Lady Mustangs 18-7 in the second to extend their lead to 32-14 going into the halftime break.

Leading the Loboettes in scoring at the half was Sanchez with nine points at the half, six of them coming from behind the arch.

In the third and fourth quarter the Loboettes were outscored 30-18, but the work they did in the first half was enough as they still won the game 58-44 after they had a barrage come from three-pointers.

Presley Smith led the team in scoring on the night with 17 points. Sanchez had another 12 points, Emery Smith had nine, Joyce had eight, Morin had six, Jones had four and Penner had two in the team’s win.

The Loboettes were able to out-rebound Shallowater 22-to-18. Although they led in rebounding they also led in turnovers with 17 while the Lady Mustangs had 16.

The Levelland Loboettes start off the season hot with a 2-0 record. The Loboettes took on the Hereford Whitefaces this past Friday at home at 6:15 p.m. for their third game of the season, and they will get ready to take on the Brownfield Lady Cubs this Tuesday on the road at 6 p.m.
