Loboettes rout Greenwood and fall to Midland

The Levelland Loboettes took on the Greenwood Lady Rangers last Tuesday and the Midland Christian Phillies this Tuesday where they won against Greenwood and took their first loss to Midland Christian on the road.

Levelland 74, Greenwood 23

In the first quarter of the game Levelland took the lead on the Lady Rangers as they outscored them 13-10 taking a three point lead going into the second quarter.

For the second quarter of the game, Levelland took over the game as they scored 18 points before the half while holding Greenwood to only three points, making the score 31-13 going into the halftime break.

Leading the Loboettes in scoring at the halftime break was Presley Smith with 13 points, nine of them coming from long range in the second.

In the third quarter of the game, it didn’t stop for the Loboettes as they put on another 23 points while holding the Lady Rangers to six points, making the score 54-19, going into the final quarter of the game.

For the final quarter Levelland put the nail in the coffin by outscoring Greenwood 20-4 taking their sixth win of the season.

For Levelland the leading scorer on the team was Emery Smith with 17 points. Presley Smith finished with 16 points, Destynii Jones had 12 points, Leilani Sanchez finished with 10, Mia Morin had seven and both Kaylee Penner and Sydnii Joyce finished with six points on the night.

Levelland won the rebounding category 30-23 against the Rangerettes while also beating them in the steals and blocking category. Levelland took care of the ball only giving it up five times while having 19 steals of their own while blocking their shots three times while getting blocked only once.

Levelland 33, Midland Christian 36

In this past Tuesday’s game Levelland took their first loss of the season as they fell to the Phillies 36-33, on the road.

For the first quarter of the Loboettes contest they took the lead outscoring Midland 11-6 taking five point lead going into the second quarter.

The second quarter was more of the same as Levelland outscored them again, this time 11-9 to extend their lead to 22-15, going into the halftime break.

Leading the Loboettes in scoring at the half was Emery Smith with nine points, all from beyond the arch.

In the third quarter is when the game flipped with Midland outscoring Levelland for the first time in the game as they put up 11 points of their own while holding the Loboettes to seven points, making the score 28-26, Levelland leading.

The final quarter of the game is when Midland was able to take their first lead of the game and hold it to take the win from Levelland with the score of 36-33, in a defensive game.

Emery Smith led the team in scoring for Levelland with 12 points on the night. Presley Smith had another seven points, Kaylee Penner had five, Leilani Sanchez had three and three Loboettes had two points in Morin, Jones and Joyce.

The Levelland Loboettes fall to 6-1 on the season as they get ready to take on the Clyde Lady Bulldogs this Tuesday at home at 6:15 p.m.
