Lobos cruise past Brownfield

The Levelland Lobos traveled to take on the Brownfield Cubs this past Tuesday night where the Lobos won in a close game 57-52.

In the first quarter it was all Brownfield as they doubled the Levelland Lobos points taking a 14-7 lead over the Lobos heading into the second quarter.

Although they started out strong, the Lobos didn’t go away as they won the second quarter 15-7, taking the lead for the first time in the game 22-21, going into the halftime break.

Going into the third quarter of the game, Levelland kept their hot streak alive as they scored 13 more points in the third while holding the Cubs to 10, making the score 35-31 going into the final quarter of the game.

Although it was close throughout the game, Levelland was able to come away with the win from the ranked Brownfield Cubs, 57-52.

Eryk Jones led the Lobos in scoring on the night with 22 points. Bryson Golightly had another 10 points, Elijah Jordan had eight, Ethan Salazar had six, Sean Landrum had five and three Lobos in Graham Gibbs, Nehemiah Sanchez and Jose Muro all had two points in the team’s win.

Levelland shot the ball well from the field going for 52% while going 36% from beyond the arch. The Lobos did well from the freethrow line as well going 53%.

The Lobos won the rebounding column on the night with 31 boards while the Brownfield Cubs had 29.

The Levelland Lobos progress to 7-5 on the season as they played in the Graham Invitational this past Thursday and Friday.
