Loboettes open district play with dominating win

The Levelland Loboettes hosted the San Angelo Lake View Maidens this past Friday night at home for their district opener where the Loboettes won, 76-9.

The first quarter of the game had Levelland holding the Maidens scoreless taking a 9-0 lead going into the second quarter of the game.

For the second quarter it was more domination for the Loboette defense as they held them to only one point while adding 23 points of their own to make the score 321, going into the halftime break.

Going into the third quarter Levelland kept it going as they outscored the Maidens 19-2, making the score 51-3 going into the final quarter of play.

For the fourth quarter, Levelland was able to outscore Lake View once more, this time 256 to end the game and take their first district win 76-9.

Three Loboettes finished in double digits with 19 coming from Presley Smith and 10 points coming from both Mia Morin and Emery Smith. Sydnii Joyce had another nine points, Destynii Jones had seven, Emily Perez had six points, Keylee Penner and Leilani Sanchez both had five points a piece and Trinity Wafer finished with four points.

The Loboettes shot the ball for 41% from the field while going 34% from the free-throw line.

Levelland led the game in rebounding while they pulled down 51 rebounds while Lake View only had 19. The Loboettes also led the game in takeaways with 43 steals and only gave the ball up 18 times throughout the night.

The Levelland Loboettes improve to 18-4 on the season and 1-0 in district play.

The Loboettes played against the Estacado Lady Mats this past Tuesday and will get ready to go against the Lubbock Cooper Liberty Lady Pirates this Friday on the road at 6:15 p.m.
