The Levelland Lobos played this past Friday against the Lubbock Cooper Liberty Patriots for their district opener on the road where they lost, 83-58 in a high scoring game.
The first quarter of the game set the tone as a high scoring offense was going to be hard to stop of the Patriots as they won the quarter 25-14, taking a ninepoint lead going into the second quarter.
The second quarter was more of the same action but was overall closer as the Lobos were outscored 23-18, making the score 48-32 going into the halftime break.
The third quarter is where the biggest scoring gap happened for the Lobos as they scored 11 points but allowed 24 points from the Patriots making the score 7243 going into the fourth quarter of play.
For the final quarter of action Levelland was able to win the quarter 15-11 over the Lubbock Cooper Liberty Patriots but would still fall 83-58 in their first district game.
Three Lobos players finished with double digit points in Anthony Gonzalez leading the team with 18 points, Eryk Jones with 13 points and Graham Gibbs with 10 points. Ethan Salazar had another seven, Bryson Golightly had five, Jose Muro had three and Sean Landrum finished with two points.
The Lobos shot the ball for 39% from the field while going 39% from the deep ball. Levelland shot the ball for 47% from the charity stripe.
Levelland was able to outrebound the Patriots 31-20 while also losing the turnover battle 22 times while only forcing 11 of their own.
The Levelland Lobos fall to 12-14 on the season while taking their first loss of district play falling to 0-1. The Lobos will take on the Snyder Tigers this Friday on the road at 7:30 p.m.
