The Levelland Loboettes completed their sweep of the San Angelo Lake View Maidens this past Friday on the road after they won 73-12.
In the first quarter it was all Levelland as their defense didn’t allow a score while they outscored the Maidens 27-0, going into the second quarter of the game.
The second quarter was more of the same thing as Levelland outscored San Angelo 23-2, as the Maidens were finally able to get onto the board, but the score sat at 50-2 at the halftime break.
Out of the break, the Loboettes defense was still doing their job well as they outscored the Maidens 17-5, extending their lead and making the score 67-7, going into the fourth quarter of the game.
For the final quarter of play, Levelland just held onto the ball and burned the clock down as they outscored the Maidens for the final time of the night 23-7 to take the district win and sweep Lake View.
Emery Smith led the Loboettes in scoring on the night with 26 points. Presley Smith had 14 points, Brooklyn Cornish had 11 points, Leilani Sanchez and Sydnii Joyce both had six points a piece, Trinity Wafer had four and three Loboettes finished with two points a piece in Mia Morin, Kaylee Penner and Mia Sepulbeda.
Levelland shot for 48% from the field while going 29% from long range shots. The Loboettes did well from the charity stripe going for 50%.
Levelland won in the rebounding category 37-23, won in the assist category 14-1 and won in the turnover category as they had 31 steals while only giving up the ball six times on the night. Both teams tied in blocks with both having two in their contest.
The Levelland Loboettes progress to 22-5 on the season and go up to 5-1 in district play. The Loboettes will play against the Lubbock Cooper Liberty Patriots this Tuesday at home for their rematch at 6:15 p.m. after they faced off against the Estacado Lady Mats this past Friday on the road.
