The Whiteface Lady Lopes hosted the Ropes Lady Eagles this past Friday night for district play where the Lady Lopes won 41-22.
The start of the game was good for the Lady Lopes as they were able to double the Lady Eagles score in the first quarter taking a 14-7 lead going into the second quarter.
For the second quarter of the game, it was a defensive battle as Ropes was only able to put up two points while Whiteface was able to get another nine points before the halftime break, making the score 23-9.
Leading the Lady Lopes in scoring at the half was Hannah Blankenship with seven points, four of them in the second quarter.
For the Lady Eagles their leading scorer at the half was Brooklyn Hogg with three points.
Out of the halftime break, it was back to where it started as Whiteface was able to double the Ropes score again, as they outscored them 10-5, extending their lead to 33-14 going into the fourth quarter.
For the final quarter of the game Whiteface put up another eight points while they held the Lady Eagles to eight points, tying the quarter but taking the district win to remain undefeated in district play.
The Lady Lopes leading scorer on the night was Lainey Sanders with 11 points. Hannah Blankenship had another 10 points, Emma Blankenship and Jaedyn Rector both finished with seven points a piece, Kambry Sanders had four and Ani Soliz finished with two points.
For the Ropes Lady Eagles the leading scorer were both Hogg and Rylie Lester with six points a piece. Madison Reyna had four points and both Delyla Stark and Bailey Turner finished with three points a piece.
The Whiteface Lady Lopes progress to 28-2 on the season while staying undefeated in district play with a perfect 9-0 record. The Lady Lopes next game of district is against the Plains Cowgirls this Friday at home at 6:15 p.m. after going up against the Smyer Lady Cats this past Tuesday night on the road.
For the Ropes Lady Eagles the go down to 20-11 on the season while falling to 6-4 in district play, sitting in third place. The Lady Eagles next game is against the Smyer Lady Cats next Tuesday on the road at 6:15 p.m. after going up against the Seagraves Lady Eagles this past Tuesday at home.
