The Whitharral Panthers took on the Wellman-Union Wildcats this past Friday on the road for district play where the Panthers won 79-25, in a blowout win.
In the first quarter of the game, the Panthers were off to a hot start as they were able to score 17 points while their defense was able to hold the Lady Cats to two points, giving Whitharral the 15-point lead, going into the second quarter of the game.
In the second quarter of the game it was more of the same story as Whitharral outscored Wellman-Union 19-11 to extend their lead to 36-13, going into the halftime break.
Whitharral’s leading scorer’s at the half were both Brenton Robinson and Damian Rodriguez, both with 12 points a piece.
Coming out of the break, Whitharral scored another 25 points while they held the Wildcats to four points extending their lead, 61-17.
For the final quarter of the game, the Panthers were able to take care of the game and outscore the Wildcats for the last time of the night, 18-8 to take the district win and remain undefeated in district play.
Leading the Panthers in scoring on the night was Robinson with 21 points. Hudson Dobrovolny had 18 points, Damian Rodriguez had 14 points, Nathaniel Sansom had 12, Jack Griffin had eight points and three Panthers finished with two points a piece in Dawson Rodgers, Brolin Kennedy and Ayden Dockery.
The Whitharral Panthers progress to 15-6 on the season while staying undefeated in district play with a 5-0 record. The Panthers next game of district play is against the Meadow Broncos this Friday on the road at 7:30 p.m after going against the Amherst Bulldogs this past Tuesday at home.
