Levelland Lobos fall to Big Spring Steers

The Levelland Lobos took on the Big Spring Steers this past Friday night for district play where they lost 47-38.

The first quarter of the game was close as Levelland barley lost the quarter 13-12, trailing by one-point, headed into the second quarter of the game.

For the second quarter of the contest the Steers added onto their lead after they scored another nine points while they held the Lobos to only four points, making the score 22-17, Big Spring leading.

Coming out of the break, Big Spring didn’t slow down on Levelland as although it was close throughout, it was still bad for the Lobos as they lost the third quarter 13-11 and the fourth quarter they lost 12-10, losing their district game on the road.

Eryk Jones and Graham Gibbs both led the Lobos in scoring with 10 points a piece. Sean Landrum and Ethan Salazar both had five points a piece, Bryson Golightly and Eli Randol both had three points a piece and Gage French finished with two points on the night.

Levelland shot the ball for 38% from the field, 25% from long-range shots and went for 33% from the charity stripe in their contest.

The Lobos were outrebounded in their game 23to-21 and also turned the ball over 21 times throughout the game while forcing 20 turnovers for the Steers.

The Levelland Lobos fall to 14-18 on the season while going down to 2-5 in district play sitting tied in fourth place with Big Spring.

The Lobos next district game is against the Lake View Chiefs this Friday at home at 7:30 p.m. with their final game of district play being against the Estacado Matadors at home February 11.
