Funeral services for Angelita Martinez Grado, 80, of Morton, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 26, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Morton.
Burial will follow in the Morton Memorial Cemetery, under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home of Morton.
The reciting of the Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 25, at Ellis Funeral Home.
She passed away Monday, August 22, 2022, in Lubbock.
Angelita was born October 8, 1941, to Alfredo and Lupe Saenz Martinez, in Coleman, Texas.
She married Jesus Grado December 28, 1960. in Morton.
Angelita enjoyed traveling and cooking, with her speciality being tortillas and enchiladas.
She loved being around her kids and grandkids.
She was an avid fan of novellas and music, especially Tejano music. Her favorite song was “Charanga.”
She played bingo and poker and loved doing crosswords.
Angelita was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus; a son, Jesse Grado; her parents; two sisters, Josie Elizondo and Florence Lucero; and two brothers, Alex Martinez and Gilbert Martinez.
Angelita is survived by her son, Jimmy Grado and wife, Myra, of Levelland; three daughters: Lilly Grado of Morton, Florence Alvarez and husband, Robert, of Morton and Josie Alvarez and husband, Ruben, of Muleshoe; four sisters: Amy Sanchez and husband, Red, Lola Gonzalez and husband, Albert, Diane Martinez and Eloise Sepulbeda and husband, Albert, all of Morton; five brothers: Joe Martinez of Lubbock, Raymond Martinez, David Martinez and Gilbert Martinez, all of Morton and Alfred Martinez, Jr. and wife, Connie, of Plains; sister-in-law, Melly Martinez of Morton; eight grandchildren: Jimmy Grado and wife, Monica, Jennifer Cantu and husband, Victor, Robert Alvarez, Jr., Alexis Ruiz and husband, Ivan, Jacob Alvarez, Myranda Alvarez, Eric Alvarez and Ashley Grado; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
