DEMETRIO ESCALANTE
Demetrio Rangel Escalante, 76, of Levelland, Texas, passed away on Aug. 20, 2026. He was born on Oct. 31, 1949, in Morton, Texas, to Roman and Guadalupe Escalante.
Demetrio was a hardworking and talented man who was self-employed as a painter. He had a creative spirit and expressed himself through painting and writing poetry. He also enjoyed playing the piano and listening to his favorite music, especially his collection of CDs and 8track tapes.
He had a love for gardening and took great joy in spending time with his family. Demetrio was also an avid collector of Marvel comic books and Marvel toy figures. He enjoyed western movies and reading western magazines, and he cherished the simple things that brought him happiness throughout his life.
Demetrio never married and had no children, but he was surrounded by family who loved him dearly. He will be remembered for his creativity, his many interests, his love of family and the unique personality that made him special to those who knew him.
He is survived by his brother, Johnny Escalante and his wife, Isabel; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Guadalupe Escalante; his brothers, Heron Escalante, Jenaro Escalante and Robert Escalante; and his sister, Frances Perez.
Demetrio will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on through the family he loved, the art he created, the poems he wrote and the many special memories he left behind.
Visitation for Demetrio was held Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026 from 6:00P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Krestridge Memorial Chapel with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass for Demetrio was held Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026 at 11:00 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with a burial to follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.
