ODESSA MAYRUSSELL
Odessa May Russell, 103, of Levelland, passed from this life November 21, 2022.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, at Krestridge Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, at First Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Odessa was born February 9, 1919, in Hereford, to Jasper Ellis and Ella May Wyatt Cockrell.
She married Edgar E. Russell December 8, 1939.
During WWII, Odessa worked in a factory in California making shells for bombs, while Ed was in the Navy.
Later she worked for Dr. J.C. Wilmon and for Texas Electric.
Odessa was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She enjoyed Home Demonstration Club and playing 42 with friends.
Odessa and Ed had a travel trailer and loved traveling all over the United States. Fishing and visiting family and friends were what they enjoyed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Russell; parents; a brother, J.W. Cockrell of Chico, California; and a sister, Audrey Chambliss of Seattle, Washington.
Odessa is survived by her daughter, Bettye K. (Don) Stafford; sister, Glennis Frost of Abilene; grandsons, Brad (Mary) Stafford of Navasota and Mike (Amie) Stafford of Levelland; great-grandsons: Curt Stafford of Odessa, Matt Stafford of Midland and Kyle Stafford of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and greatgranddaughters: Kayla Stafford (Luke) Holder of Texas City, Mahalie Stafford of Lubbock and Maddie Stafford of Levelland.
